Phillies GM Matt Klentak contradicted manager Pete Mackanin yesterday by saying that the Phillies are committed to giving Maikel Franco more time to snap his slump Franco went 2 for 4 last night after sitting out Tuesday with a fever..

We believe in him. We have confidence that he will [break out].

There are a lot of indicators, whether you’re looking at his exit velocities and launch angles.

Again, I don’t want to say he’s been a victim of bad luck by itself — it’s not the only thing but there are reasons to believe he can get out this.

It could happen today, it could happen tomorrow, it could happen next week, we don’t know.

But we’re committed to showing confidence in this kid and finding out what he can do and that’s really the end of it. Right now, he’s important to us and we need to show confidence in him and let him go out there and play.Klentak on Franco

Matt Kemp and Ender Inciarte became the first set of Braves to each get 40 hits in May since Hank Aaron and Johnny Logan did it in1959

Chad Pinder hit two home runs last night and six in the last 13 games. One went 421 feet and the other went 448 feet. Where will he play though, when Marcus Semien comes on the disabled list in mid-June?

Kevin Gausman got a win and managed to lower his ERA from 6.17 to 5.92 last night, but he still only lasted 5 ⅓, allowing two earned runs on eight hits and walked five

James Paxton is the seventh-hardest throwing starting pitcher in baseball history. Upon being activated from the disabled list last night, he pitched five scoreless innings against the Rockies, allowing three hits and striking out six

Antonio Senzatela pretty much only throws two pitches:

It took David Paulino 89 pitches to get through four innings. He allowed five hits and walked one and struck out eight. He will likely remain in the bullpen when Joe Musgrove returns

Carlos Correa had the best month of his three year career in May

  • 7 HR
  • .386 AVG
  • .457 OBP
  • .673 SLG
  • 68 TB
  • 26 RBI

Jorge Soler was benched again yesterday for the second straight day, and the seventh time in the past 11 games.

It’s been a little bit tough, kind of finding spots for him. Especially the way Boni has been playing. It’s kind of hard to take [Bonifacio] out of the lineup now. He’s been playing a lot, But I’m not going to label him my starting right fielder.Yost on Bonifacio and Soler

Chase Utley is hitting .367 with 9 XBH, 14 RBI, and a .460 OBP over the last 22 games

Justin Bour:

  • April: .178 AVG, 3 HR
  • May: .347 AVG, 11 HR

Curtis Granderson may finally be warmed up and ready to play baseball. After hitting .128 in April, he finished May hitting .273 and has hit safely in eight of the last nine games. This seems to be a pattern for Grandy as he also started off slow in both 2015 and 2016

Masahiro Tanaka is 0-4 with a 12.23 ERA after giving up 30 hits in 17 ²/₃ innings over his past four starts.
