According to Brian Cashman, Luis Severino will remain a starter regardless of weather he makes the Yankees rotation. If not, he will be a starting pitcher in the minors

GM Neal Huntington expects Jung Ho Kang to be ready to go for spring training, although the club is still unsure of Kang’s availablity. The organization won’t fully know if Kang is available until the time actually comes when he arrives. He is still awaiting the outcome of his initial evaluation by MLB’s Treatment Board after being charged with his third DUI in eight years in South Korea.

The Rays have at least opened a dialogue with the Rangers about infielder Jurickson Profar. It seems that the discussions are just preliminary at this point, but it does seem there’s a rather intriguing possible match on paper. Tampa Bay is in need of a second baseman after trading Logan Forsythe (and might also like the idea of having another player capable of playing short)

Keith Law has ranked the Braves’ farm system as the best in the majors for the second consecutive year, and includes nine Braves prospects among the top 81, including seven in the first 59. Among those nine are four teen-agers and a pair of 20-year-olds

Michael Brantley is currently hitting off a tee three times a day, about 40-50 swings in succession. Like last year, a definite timetable hasn’t been put into place

Melvin Upton and Dalton Pompey will compete for the left field job. Steve Pearce and Ezequiel Carrera may also be in the mix.

Although depth charts have Mallex Smith listed as a starting outfielder in Tampa, don’t be surprised if he starts the season at Triple-A

Fenway Park is a tough venue for left-handed power. hitters, Mitch Moreland could struggle at home

Tyler Glasnow has not shown the ability to repeat his delivery and throw strikes which appears to be pretty important to the Pirates. He only pitched 23 innings in the majors, and is not guaranteed a rotation spot.

Each of the four Pirates to end last season on the DL, Gerrit Cole, A.J. Schugel, Starling Marte and Josh Harrison — are “good and ready go” and are expected to report to spring training at full strength.

Francis Martes is the top pitching prospect in the Houston Astros organization. He might be one of the top pitching prospects in baseball. MLB.com recently ranked him fifth among right-handers

Fangraphs projects both Trea Turner and Francisco Lindor to hit 15 home runs. They have Lindor with a .140 ISO and Turner with a .158 ISO. The 2016 league average ISO was .162, so the projections place the pair at or just below league average power.

The Royals signed Brandon Moss to a two-year deal, increasing his Fantasy value due to an expected full season of action. Ned Yost doesn’t use platoons, ever.

Cheslor Cuthbert will miss out on playing time as a consequence of the Moss signing.

Glen Perkins is a steal at his current ADP. Although working his way back from surgery, he plans on being the Twins closer once fully healthy and as long as he remains productive. His backup, Brandon Kintzler, is being drafted 200 picks earlier.
