Baseball Chatter 05/28

Manny Machado is walking more than ever, but he is also striking out more than ever, hitting .225 on the season. He threw his big wad of gum at a bird yesterday, and his antics are much more disturbing when he is batting .225 than when he is hitting bombs. Ugh.

Right-handed batters are hitting .124 against Lance Lynn, who is now 4-2 with a 2.53 ERA

Chase Anderson should be on your Fantasy Baseball watch list. He was a sight to see last night against the Diamondbacks, taking a no hitter into the eighth inning and striking out a career high 11 batters

Greg Holland signed a one year contract with the Rockies worth a guaranteed $7 million. If he stays healthy and pitches well, he can make $14 million. He also has a mutual player option for $15 million in 2018 that will kick in as soon as he finishes 30 games or pitches in 50. That is right around the corner…

A lot of people in this game play with a chip on their shoulder, I’m no different. I just want to be better and better each time out. I knew I was healthy. If other teams didn’t necessarily believe that or they were apprehensive, that’s their decision.Holland on signing with the Rockies

James Paxton will start against the Rockies on Wednesday, isn’t he lucky?

It doesn’t look like Christian Arroyo is going to be sent back down to Triple-A, but he will get a couple days off.

Brad Peacock will stay in the rotation for at least one more start because A.J. Hinch loves him, and Mike Fiers will go to the bullpen. It may or may not be permanent.

Mike Trout leads the league with 16 home runs so far and is on pace to hit 50 on the season.

I don’t think so, probably not. I just never had a desire to do it. Friends and family) obviously want me to do it, but it’s just a personal choice. Not one particular reason. I’m sure one day I’ll do it.Trout on weather he will participate in Home Run Derby

Brian Johnson is the first Red Sox pitcher to throw a shutout in his first home start since Pedro Martinez in 1998.

Corey Kluber is set to return Thursday, and the Indians will probably move Danny Salazar to the bullpen to make room in the rotation. Salazar has allowed at least three runs in seven of his last eight starts, and is 1-3 with a 7.33 ERA
