WHITE HOUSE VISIT

The Reigning World Series Champion Boston Red Sox were scheduled to go to The White House on February 15 but due to the government shut down, have decided to postpone their visit.

They have re-scheduled their visit for May 9, after a three game road trip against the Orioles in Baltimore. It remains to be seen how many players will ultimately attend due to the hypersensitive political climate in our nation’s Capitol.

Aside from the players, manager Alex Cora has gone back and forth whether he’ll be in  attendance. As a native of Puerto Rico, Cora has taken issue with the Administration’s response to last year’s hurricane which devastated the island.

As a policy, Sox ownership has made it clear they will always accept an invitation to The White House, regardless of who’s in Office; but have said they will let people make their own minds up whether to attend.

I have to believe that when push comes to shove and the metal meets the road, Cora will represent the Sox and Puerto Rico, and be in attendance. And if I know Cora the way I think I do, I’d be shocked if he didn’t take the opportunity to ask for a private moment with President Trump to make “a few suggestions”
