Red Sox Pitcher Suspended for PED use

Red Sox pitcher Steven Wright has been suspended 80 games for violating MLB drug policy. He tested positive for using one of the banned substances deemed by the league. This is the second time the knuckle baller has been suspended; last season he was suspended for a domestic violence infraction.

My question is…why does a knuckle ball pitcher need to use a PED? Poor Tim Wakefield is rolling around in his grave, and he’s not even dead. This news comes a couple days after The Yankees announced they were shutting down starter Luis Severino for a few weeks. He’ll most likely be back in early May. Although Wright’s absence will be longer, I have a feeling that Severino’s loss will be greater than Wright’s.

Wright seemed to have a lost s spot in the starting rotation and was destined for the bullpen. All signs were pointing to young lefty Eduardo Rodriguez securing the last spot in the rotation. In addition to the 80 games Wright will be gone, he is now also ineligible for post-play.
