Red Sox Offseason Outlook

Greetings from Red Sox Nation!
Some initial thoughts about the off-season outlook for the 2018 World Champions:

Craig Kimbrel

Top Red Sox free agents include

Pitchers: Craig Kimbrel Joe Kelly Nathan Eovaldi Hitters: Steve Pearce (2018 World Series MVP) Ian Kinsler

Today, let’s focus on the pitching staff. The Red Sox will need to find a fifth starter to follow behind Chris Sale, David Price, Rick Porcello and Eduardo Rodriguez. While they have Hector Velazquez, Steven Wright and Brian Johnson on their roster, I believe they will resign Nate Eovaldi. His post-season performance proved his velocity and command are back.

High heat and the ability to throw when Manager Alex Cora needed him to, show he is back. Though he will likely remain in the starting rotation, I’d like to see the Sox let him step in as the closer since Kimbrel is not likely to re-sign with Boston. While Eovaldi is not likely to get the closer gig, boy would that be fun to see after his World Series performance.

In my next post, I’ll cover the closer and bullpen situation, and will follow up with another post to discuss the offensive side. Your reactions are always welcome! Have a great day!
