Schwarber has reached the 30-homer mark five times in his career and the reigning NL home run champion became the first Phillie to hit 30 in consecutive years since Ryan Howard did it from 2006-2011.
Wheeler struck out six and walked none over six innings. He had allowed 11 runs over 8 2/3 innings in his first two starts against the Nationals this season.

Elly De La Cruz is exciting to watch on base paths but lately has a strikeout problem. The Reds rookie has struck out at least once in each of the last 15 games. He was 0 for 4 with a pair of strikeouts Tuesday and has 81 this season.

CF Jazz Chisholm Jr. was back in the starting lineup after an MRI showed no structural damage to his right hamstring. Chisholm has missed 21 games with the injury.

RHP Hunter Greene (hip soreness) is scheduled to return Aug. 28, providing a boost to the Reds’ current four-man starting rotation. Out since June 17, he threw in the bullpen before the game. … 2B Jonathan India, on the injured list since July 30 with plantar fasciitis in his left foot, took batting practice Tuesday. He is expected to return to the lineup Friday.

Rodriguez The veteran left-hander, who was nearly traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the deadline, improved to 4-1 with a 3.63 ERA in his last seven starts.

YandyDíaz went 4 for 4 and raised his average from .315 to .322 on his 32nd birthday as the Rays improved to 7-3 in their last 10 games.

Rays starter Zach Eflin failed in his bid to become the AL’s first, and the major’s third, 13-game winner. He allowed one run and four hits over seven innings. The right-hander struck out eight in an outing in which he threw 71 of 99 pitches for strikes.

Eflin has worked seven or more innings seven times this season, which is tied for third-most in the AL.

St. Louis has lost 12 of its last 17 games. The Cardinals have also dropped nine of 10 to Tampa Bay.

Aremado tied Atlanta’s Ozzie Albies for the second-most interleague RBI this season with 31. Only Houston’s Alex Bregman has driven in more interleague runs with 32.

RHP Tyler Glasnow (back spasms) received an injection, but might start this weekend against Cleveland.

Mountcastle’s 472-foot drive over both bullpens in left-center field at Camden Yards was the ballpark’s longest homer by an Oriole since Statcast began tracking in 2015.
Mountcastle’s homer is not the longest overall at Camden Yards in the Statcast era. Carlos Correa — then with Houston — hit one in 2019 that was 474 feet.

Acuña has been one of the best players in the majors this season. He led off the game with his 26th homer — his 31st career leadoff homer and fifth this season — and went 1 for 3.
Acuña is batting .339 in 111 games and leads the majors with 53 stolen bases.
The Braves’ Matt Olson reached 100 RBI, the first MLB player to reach that mark in 2023. Olson has driven in a run in 11 straight games.

Keller gave up three runs and nine hits in five innings while striking out four and walking none in a no-decision. He is winless since June 28 and remains stuck on nine wins.

Cubs, who won for the 16th time in 21 games. They moved within 1 1/2 games of first-place Milwaukee in the NL Central and just ahead of Cincinnati in a crowded wild-card race for the league’s final playoff spot.

Kikuchi The left-hander has a 1.23 ERA in five starts since the All-Star break.

X-rays on Ryu were negative, and the left-hander should be able to make his next start on Sunday.

Clarke Schmidt’s 14th straight start allowing three runs or less. He has emerged as one of New York’s most reliable starters behind Gerrit Cole.

Wilmer Flores has reached base in 19 straight games, the longest streak of his career.

It was the 21st time this season the Giants have used an opener followed by a bulk innings guy. They are 15-6 when using that combination.

The D-backs have lost seven straight and fell to 57-57 for the season. It’s the first time Arizona has been at .500 since April 7, when the team was 4-4.

Freeman is 20 of 38 (.526) over his last nine games, boosting his batting average to .343 for the season. He also has an MLB-leading 41 doubles.

The Diamondbacks are just 7-23 over their past 30 games — an extended freefall that has seriously damaged the team’s playoff hopes. Arizona was in first place of the NL West on July 8, but has fallen to third over the past four weeks, 10 games behind the surging Dodgers.

The Rangers haven’t been to the playoffs since 2016 but have a strong chance to end that drought this season, especially after trading for Scherzer (11-4).
