Players to Avoid on Week 3 Waivers

Quarterbacks:

Marcus Mariota (TEN) Where do we start? He has the capabilities to become a good quarterback in this league, but I don’t think he has “it” to become a star in this league. The Titans may continue to sit him for Blaine Gabbert through the season. Maybe it would be a good idea if he could sit behind a better veteran player to help, but that’s not the case in Tennessee. I did drop him in any league I could last week. Unfortunately, I have to keep him on my Scott Fish Bowl team because of it being a QB Flex league. I’m still kicking myself for not drafting Patrick Mahomes over Mariota. Mahomes went two picks later in the draft.

Tyrod Taylor (CLE) I cringe every time I see Tyrod running around on the field. I’m afraid he’s going to take a bad hit and sustain an injury. With Hue calling his plays, it’s just not a good situation. I think he starts for maybe only two more games before Baker Mayfield takes over.

Running Backs:

Chris Ivory (BUF) I drafted Ivory in most leagues as a late round, or last running back pick in the draft. I did this primarily because if the NFL suspended LeSean McCoy, Ivory looks like he could step in and take over as the primary running back. At this point in the season, I don’t see Ivory anything more than a goal line back. I’m not sure Buffalo will run him as the primary back out of the backfield if McCoy would miss any time with his broken ribs.

Marcus Murphy (BUF) Marcus moved up the depth chart after a very good preseason, but he still has Chris Ivory in the mix if LeSean McCoy would miss any time this season. I think it’s best to just avoid both running backs in Buffalo.

Wide Receivers:

Josh Doctson (WAS) I’m sure teams will start to drop him over the next week or two, but I would avoid picking him up. He hasn’t lived up to the hype that he received when he first entered the league, and it’s only a matter of time before Michael Floyd passes him on the depth chart.

Tight Ends:

Will Dissly (SEA) I still would let other owners target Dissly in waivers this week, even after his touchdown in Chicago Monday night. Brandon Marshall will be targeted more in the end zone going forward, and I just can’t rely on Dissly, especially playing in this Seattle offense.
