The Pirates say they are “still engaged” with Ivan Nova‘s representatives

Jay Bruce’s $13 million price tag is high for the Rays, so to facilitate a deal, the Mets might have to eat a sizeable portion.

Drew Smyly is projected to earn $6.9 million in arbitration next season. Therefore, a $6.1 million difference remains between the salaries.

The Mets could throw in decent prospect in exchange for Tampa Bay paying off the rest of Bruce’s salary. From the Mets’ Top 30 prospects Gabriel Ynoa (No. 18), Ali Sanchez (No.21), and Eudor Garcia could be of interest to the Rays.

The best available closer options on the market for the Nationals could be David Robertson or Greg Holland

Brandon Drury could be in line to see a lot of time at second base, “We’re going to try and get as many at-bats for our best players, so he would be one of those,” general manager Mike Hazen said.

Tyler Glasnow could compete for one of Pittsburgh’s final rotation spots in 2017, especially if the team fails to sign a veteran starter in the offseason

Blake Treinen could head into spring training as the favorite for the Nationals’ closer job if they aren’t able to bring in an established option this offseason

No indication dodgers are out on Brian Dozier

Kenley Jansen saved 47 games during the regular season. No other Dodger had any saves. Jansen is 2nd among all active relievers in WHIP (at 0.89). Koji Uehara (0.87) ranks number one with a minimum of 300 innings pitched

The Mariners have been talking with both the Rays and the Reds about starters And while we haven’t heard much in the way of specifics from Cincinnati, it stands to reason that the club would at least weigh offers for pitchers such as Anthony DeSclafani and Dan Straily.

Tyler Naquin totaled minus-17 defensive runs saved in center field (and minus-18 overall). Only three outfielders fared worse: Robbie Grossman, J.D. Martinez and McCutchen. Chris Antonetti and Mike Chernoff hinted earlier this offseason that, down the road, Naquin could profile better in right field.

After losing on Aroldis Chapman and Kenley Jansen ,some of the names that have been discussed within the Marlins organization: Brad Ziegler, Daniel Hudson, Junichi Tazawa and Neftali Feliz.

The White Sox want just as much for Jose Quintana as they got from The Red Sox for Chris Sale. Quintana turns 29 in January and has averaged 200 or more innings in each of the last four years. He is 46-46 with a 3.41 ERA in 154 big league games (151 starts). He has two years and $17.85 million remaining on his contract.

In reporting the Rangers’ interest in Ross as a free agent, the Dallas Morning News’ Evan Grant says his asking price is in the $9-11 million range, a high price for a pitcher who might not be ready to start the season.Nevertheless, Grant is reporting that the Rangers have done “significant homework” on Ross, while the Cubs – another team oft connected to Ross trade rumors – left last week’s Winter Meetings still involved in Ross talks, according to CSN Chicago’s Patrick Mooney.Even the Pirates have checked in on Ross, confirming our suspicion that Ross could be a popular target this offseason.

Randal Grichuk may be a sleeper. Grichuk had a great September — hitting .269 with eight doubles, seven homers and 16 RBIs — he could mature into a valuable asset.

Perhaps former closer Trevor Rosenthal could become a weapon in a new role, handling high-leverage assignments in the middle innings and working multiple innings as needed. THE EFFECTOR!!!!!

The Orioles are believed to be the team with the best offer on the table to free agent slugger Mark Trumbo
