HOMEWARD BOUND!!!

Fenway Park will never look better to the team than this Tuesday as they celebrate their home opener in front of Red Sox Nation, and the Fenway Faithful. Coming off a dismal 3-8 start which doesn’t look anything like the start of their triumphant 2018 World Series winning season, home cooking couldn’t come at a better time.

Manager Alex Cora even resorted to a pseudo, opener game. In the final game of their eleven game West Coast trip, Cora started Hector Velasquez who pitched three scoreless innings. Brandon Workman followed with a scoreless fourth inning. Marcus Walden pitched the next two; and got the win. Sometime closer, Matt Barnes pitched the seventh and eighth, while Ryan Brasier closed it out for the save, and 1-0 victory.

This victory takes the Sox to the 3-8 record, which doesn’t look much better than a 2-9 would have, if the Sox lost again. But, what it does do is put the team in a positive mindset as they got on the plane to head home, and it will keep the Red Sox restless fans, at bay for at least one more day.

The weather is supposed to be beautiful on Tuesday. The Sox will be raising another banner, their ninth. Who knows how many Patriots will come out of the Green Monster to throw out a first pitch…is there any doubt that recently retired Rob “GRONK” Gronkowski, will be somewhere on the field to spike the baseball.

Maybe the New England air is all the team needs to snap out of their funk. maybe it’s still the World Series Hangover, maybe it was starting on the West Coast….maybe they just haven’t played well. Not hitting, and not getting good starting pitching is a sure recipe for disaster.

The good news is, a five game winning streak; which they are capable of rattling off, gets them back to even to reset themselves for the rest of the year to come. There’s no way this team isn’t heard from in this young season.

PLAY BALL!!!
