Baseball Chatter July 4th, 2019

The Cubs Double-A affiliate tweeted a few photos of the Betsy Ross American Flag worked into the infield by the grounds crew and addressed to Colin Kaepernick and Nike, who decided to pull the shoes because the flag could unintentionally offend some people. The team has since deleted that tweet.

The beauty of living in a free country is that you get to choose what you buy, what you watch and what you listen to. I will never buy another stitch of Nike anything ever again. Not even from the thrift store, which I frequent often.

I am proud to be an American and I am proud of our flag- I speak only for myself and respect everyone else’s right to be offended all the time. Happy Birthday to America and Thank you to all who sacrificed for our freedoms.

Go Twins!

The Dodgers are the fifth team in MLB history to win at least five straight home games via walk off within a season

Theo Epstein was on 670 The Score radio yesterday saying that if the Cubbies keep losing, there will be many changes made.

The Phillies entered June leading the NL East by three games. They are now 5 ½ games behind the Braves and may be third in the division as early as today if the Nationals keep winning. The Nationals are 25-10 in their last 35 games.

Due To Return Tomorrow July 5

DFS:

SP – Jose Berrios (MIN) is the best pitcher on the board today, although he isnt as good on the road as he is at home, the Twins should provide decent run support. He should bring back decent numbers if the Twins can keep from committing errors.

SP – Michael Wacha (STL) has lowered his ERA a full run since returning to the rotation June 10. He pitches in Seattle tonight which is a great ballpark for pitchers. Opposing pitcher is to be determined at the time of this writing

SP – Lance Lynn (TEX) has been worth 30 or more points at Fanduel each of his last 10 starts, and 11 of his last 12, including more than 40 points nine times

SP- Mike Soroka (ATL) The Phillies might give him a tough time as they do hit RHP well, but Soroka is affordable enough to take a chance on him at home today

C – Yasmani Grandal – .556 9 AB, 2 HR, 3 RBI VS Castillo

1B – Joey Votto – .833 6 AB, 2 HR, 5 RBI vs Woodruff

Jose Abreu – .500 24 AB, 2 HR, 4 RBI vs Boyd

Justin Smoak – .667 6 AB, 1 HR, 1 RBI vs Velazquez

2B – DJ LeMahieu (NYY) .286 7 AB, 2 HR, 3 RBI vs Chirinos

Ozzie Albies (ATL) is affordable even though he struggles a bit against LHP. He doubled twice yesterday and has been hot lately.

3B – Xander Bogaerts (BOS) .306 36 AB, 2 HR, 3 RBI vs Stroman

Josh Donaldson (ATL) .800 5 AB, 1 HR, 5 RBI vs Eflin

SS – Didi Gregorious (NYY) shows the most value at the position today

OF – Nick Markakis (ATL) plays everyday and comes at a low cost

OF – Jose Martinez (STL) is always a good DFS pick when he is in the lineup. We don’t know who is pitching for Seattle yet, and we dont know that he will be in the lineup yet.

OF – Nicholas Castellanos (DET) .370 27 AB vs. Lopez – Affordable choice and on a nine game hit streak, hitting .412 with two home runs, four RBI and five runs scored
