“I’m pretty in tune with my body, That’s exactly why I refused to take the MRI. I knew there was nothing happening in there.”

General Manager Sandy Alderson admitted that he thought Syndergaard’s injury was something more serious, but still did not insist upon the MRI.

No, that’s not standard practice, But I can’t tie him down and throw him in the tube either. We have communication with the players All of these decisions are made with feedback from the player. It’s not that simple to simply say, ‘We know this and we know that,’ without taking into account the patient, which is what doctors do all the time.Sandy Alderson

Alderson admitted the very next sentence that Syndergaard had to be forced onto the disabled list last season when he was injured.

I didn’t have any concern about how it was handled, but I was a little disappointed because it was similar to a situation we had last year where we tried to keep him active and simply had to put him on the disabled list We told ourselves that we wouldn’t let that happen again and it happened again. But I think that’s the nature of these injuries as well. I think the fact that there’s a 10-day disabled list instead of 15 gave us a little more latitude to try and see if he could get through it.Sandy Aldersdon

When Yoenis Cespedes injured his hamstring on April 20, it must have also been his decision to put a boot on and play through it, because I highly doubt Thor is the only player with decision making powers..

Before Syndergaard was removed from the game, he made it through 1.1 innings, walked two and earned five runs on five hits.

He went for that MRI at 7am this morning…

The worst part about all of it is Alderson’s flat refusal to take any tiny fraction of responsibility for making a bad decision. It is simple. You don’t step foot onto the mound until you get an MRI.

Yes Sir, what time should I be there?

The Mets are 10-14 and last in the National League East. They also have the worst batting average in the National League. They have lost six important players to injuries we can assume could have been lessened or avoided altogether.

Sandy Leon is hitting .180 with a .476 OPS after 14 games. Manager John Farrell said that moving forward, Leon will be the team’s catcher when Chris Sale and Rick Porcello are scheduled to start, but Christian Vazquez figures to be the go-to backstop the rest of the time.

Kyle Hendricks allowed two runs on three hits, walked three and struck out three, which is much improved on what he did in his previous outings this season. Remember when he walked Tommy Milone in four pitches?

I am still not convinced Jon Lester is ever going to be what he was when he had David Ross behind the plate. He had a 2.75 ERA in 578.7 IP with Ross and 3.71 in 1425 IP with every other catcher throughout his career.

Michael Morse has seen three consecutive starts at first base, with Brandon Belt moving to the outfield. Great for a short term filler…

Patrick Corbin allowed two hits while walking two and striking out six over 6.1 shutout innings for a no-decision in Sunday’s 2-0 win over the Rockies. He needs to be owned in your league.

Ian Desmond played left field and went 1-for-5 with two strikeouts in his season debut yesterday

Hyun-Jin Ryu allowed one run on three hits and struck out nine over 5.1 innings yesterday. He has 29 strikeouts in 26 innings and earned his first win since 2014

Eduardo Rodriguez struck out nine over six innings for a no-decision yesterday. He struck out every Cubbie exactly once

Injury News

Pablo Sandoval has not made significant progress in rehabbing his sprained knee, which is more severe than originally suspected. But hey, he doesn’t need surgery.
