Byron Buxton started last season just as sucky as this. He was sent down twice before he figured it out. He crushes everyone at Triple-A when he gets demoted so maybe the guy just starts the season slow. He hit .287/.357/.653, with seven home runs in September. Five of the seven were hit off 2016 All-Star pitchers, including Justin Verlander and Chris Sale. I say hold on to him.
The Giants have lost all of Madison Bumgarner’s four starts by giving him almost zero run support. The Giants have put up five total runs with MadBum on the mound, and he drove in two of them.
Koda Glover will share closer duties with Shawn Kelley for now

Jose Bautista hasn’t hit a homer in the regular season since Oct.1, 2016
I just see him missing his pitch. He’s getting a steady diet of breaking balls too. More so than he ever has. But when he’s getting his pitch, he’s just fouling it off. And he’s probably been a little more aggressive than he normally isJohn Gibbons on Bautista

The Tigers ended their home run streak at 13 straight games. That’s the most in franchise history and the second most in MLB history.
Jason Vargas maxes out at 88 miles per hour, but he has only allowed one run while striking out 23 in a little under 21 innings, and has an ERA of 0.44. This guy has been pitching in the majors for 12 years though people, and has made 199 starts.
He hasn’t pitched anywhere near 200 innings since 2014, when he threw 187. The 34 year-old probably won’t last past the All-Star break if they don’t limit his innings. Unfortunately, this is not the real Jason Vargas so ride the train and then jump off.
Kyle Hendricks doesn’t have much velocity separating his change up from his fastball, so when the velocity on his fastball is down, he loses the second pitch. Hendricks is rolling with a 6.19 era.

Tommy John surgery, as normal as it has become, is still not an easy thing to recover from. Pitchers will always struggle some as they work their way back to full health. Don’t expect full health for two years after Tommy John surgery. And then you should roster him on every team.
