  • Ryan Zimmerman is 3-for-22 with six strikeouts, hitting so bad from the cleanup spot that pitchers don’t even consider pitching to Bryce Harper, who has walked eleven times already.
  • Anthony Rendon didn’t like the third strike call to end the third inning, so he flipped his bat and got ejected from the game. Then Manager Dave Martinez came out of the dugout screaming and he was kicked out as well.  The Mets have won four in a row now, as they beat the Nats today, 3-2, and Jeurys Familia earned a five-out save.

  • The White Sox lead the league with 14 home runs, or 2.66 home runs per game. Their bullpen has allowed 20 runs in 20 innings to rank last in the American League with an 8.55 ERA
  • The Twins have hit 12 home runs so far in their current five game home run streak, including four home runs on April 1. Last year they hit four home runs in a game seven times and six of them were in the second half.
  • The Cardinals’ best-performing hitters are stuck at the end of the batting order, which has not changed at all this season. Yadier Molina and Paul DeJong each have three home runs. Hello…

  • Lance McCullers is not good the third time through the batting order. In his first start he only faced three batters a third time before being replaced on the mound, but two of three got hits. He has faced a total of eight batters for a third time so far this season, but he has picked up right where he left off in 2017. The following table shows the number of hitters he faced the first second and third time in an outing along with their slash line stats against him.

Ex. He faced 198 batters the first time through the lineup. His ERA was 2.57 and batters hit .185/.269/.267 against him

  • Hanley Ramirez hit a walkoff hit single with the bases loaded. He was batting third in the order

  • Jarrod Dyson looks like he is fully healthy after having sports hernia surgery in September. He has a double, a triple and a stolen base in 16 plate appearances. He will continue to get playing time against right-handed pitchers and even started yesterday against a lefty. Expect his playing time to change in May when Steven Souza returns from the disabled list.
