MLB is going to require that every team store the baseballs the same way, in a climate controlled room. They may just install a humidor at every stadium

The Phillies are showing the most interest in Jake Arrieta at this point and are said to be offering around three years at $82 million. This is not even close to the six-years and $126 million Darvish got.

Most reports this week are putting the Phillies more in the three-year, $82 million range.

Third baseman Hunter Dozier is penciled in as the Royals starting first baseman even though he has only played the position 12 times since he was drafted in 2013.

Though the Marlins lost stolen base leader Dee Gordon in their trade with the Mariners, they improved their overall team speed with a number of additions, including outfielders Lewis Brinson, Magneuris Sierra and Cameron Maybin.

Rather than sit and wait for the long ball, Mattingly hopes to manufacture runs by emphasizing better base running.

And he has the tools to do it.

Mattingly said that style of base running puts pressure on the defense, causing infielders to rush their throws or outfielders to bobble balls, mistakes that can turn outs into hits or allow runners to take an extra base.
