Three Notables of “Cut Day” 2016

Mark Sanchez

One of the more interesting moves of cut day was the highest ranked backup Quarterback of 2015. Mark Sanchez has proven to be a passer worth taking note on, with his success in USC and the New York Jets early in his career.

Denver didn’t seem to think so, as they released the QB , and before his release was even official, the Dallas Cowboys swept in and signed Sanchez to a one year deal.

Justin Forsett

Surprisingly, the presumptive starting running back for the Baltimore Ravens was cut despite his 1,266 rushing yards last year, and the fact that he led the Ravens in rushing the past two seasons.

There is news that the Ravens may resign Forsett at a lesser cost before the season starts, but the fact that they cut him in the first place gives Terrance West the opportunity to shine as the number one back, and also shows the team’s confidence that Kenneth Dixon will return quickly from his knee injury.

Moritz Böhringer

The first European NFL athlete (excluding Jarryd Hayne) has not made the Vikings 53-man roster. This is surprising, as the team hyped him up on social media on some accounts.

The Vikings added Bohringer to their practice squad on Sunday, where he will continue his development for up to two years, until the Vikings need him, or another team signs him to their 53 man roster.
