Wide Reciever
Falcons – Aldrick Robinson was the standout with three catches for 118 yards.
Saints – Michael Thomas was targeted five times in the first half. He caught four for 67 yards, including a long of 28.
Patriots – Martellus Bennett, who New England acquired from the Bears in an offseason trade, was Jimmy Garoppolo‘s favorite target early on. He was targeted four times and had three receptions for 33 yards
Steelers – Second-year wide receiver Sammie Coates has impressed during training camp practices, but he fumbled twice against the Lions.
Vikings – First-round pick receiver from Mississippi, Laquon Treadwell, had a team-high four catches for 41 yards.
Broncos – Cody Latimer, who is challenging Bennie Fowler for the third receiver spot, caught seven passes for 82 yards. Fowler blocked a punt and his Week 1 status is now in jeopardy given the timetable to return from his fractured elbow.
Quarterback
Titans – Matt Schaub played most of the first half and solidified his status as Matt Ryan‘s top backup
Eagles – Carson Wentz was plagued by receivers’ drops, and took a hard hit late in the game. He appeared shaken up, but remained in for one more play. Wentz (ribs) doesn’t have a timeline for a return, but the Eagles are hopeful that he’ll play “before the end of the preseason”.
Dolphins – Brandon Doughty, the seventh-round pick from Western Kentucky, finished up and looked good, hitting 7 of 9 for 66 yards.
Rams – Jared Goff didn’t return in the second half after his non-throwing shoulder became stiff. Neither Goff nor Fisher believed the injury was serious.
Tight End
Packers – Jared Cook began training camp on the PUP list as he recovered from foot surgery he underwent in late May. It looks like he’ll be ready for the start of the regular season for the Packers
Running Back
Broncos – Devontae Booker showed flashes of the back that Denver has hyped following the draft. The rookie was decisive, slipped off tacklers and got involved in the passing game. His five touches exceeded co-second-stringer Ronnie Hillman by two
Giants – Andre Williams has reportedly lost 15 pounds since the end of the 2015 campaign in an effort to improve on the meager 257 yards he generated on the ground.
Chargers – Melvin Gordon looked excellent running with the first team offense, putting to bed many concerns about a knee that required microfracture surgery on Jan. 5
Titans – It’ll be tough for the Titans to keep Derrick Henry off the field, especially if he starts to translate surprisingly decent hands into catches out of the backfield.
Seahawks – Thomas Rawls could share carries this season with Christine Michael, who had an impressive game in Seattle’s preseason opener Saturday “When Thomas gets back out there, those guys give you a little 1-2 punch that we are kind of excited about,” coach Pete Carroll said.
Panthers – Cameron Artis-Payne, Fozzy Whittaker and Brandon Wegher did little to separate themselves in the battle for the backup running back spot.
Artis-Payne gained 10 yards on five carries, Wegher rushed for 13 yards on 10 attempts and Whittaker had no yardage on three carries.
Jaguars – have been focusing on starting faster this season after scoring just 35 points in the first quarter last season, 31st in the NFL.
