QB

Eagles – Carson Wentz was named the starting quarterback for Sunday’s season-opener against the Browns. Wentz played in just one preseason game after fracturing two ribs. But the ribs are completely healed.

RB

Dolphins – Arian Foster‘s obvious question is about his durability because he hasn’t played a 16-game season since 2012, although he played 13 games in 2014.

Dolphins – Jay Ajayi lost a fumble and had a dropped pass in the preseason finale against Tennessee, which might have cast doubt on his readiness to start over Arian Foster. Coach Adam Gase expressed disappointment in Ajayi, saying he expects more based on what he’d seen more during training camp and preseason.

Cowboys – Darren McFadden being placed on the NFI saves the Cowboys some money. The team is not obligated to pay him his $1.25 base salary while he is on NFI because of a fractured shoulder suffered when he fell trying to catch his falling cell phone by a pool in a friend’s backyard. His per-game roster bonuses of $31,250 are also out the door as long as he is on NFI.

WR

Ravens – Marquise Goodwin remains out with a concussion and his availability is uncertain for the opener in Baltimore. If he can’t play, Greg Salas likely would be the No. 3 receiver.

Dolphins – DeVante Parker (hamstring) didn’t practice Monday and coach Adam Gase said his hamstring injury hasn’t been the same thing each time. Gase said Parker has had injuries to both hamstrings and in different spots on both hamstrings

Dolphins – Kenny Stills didn’t play in the preseason finale at Tennessee after tweaking his back during the week. But Stills, the most impressive wideout during training camp and preseason, seems as though he’ll be ready for the Sept. 11 opener at Seattle.

Patriots –  Danny Amendola (knee, ankle), who’s been on PUP since the start of camp, was among the Patriots that did not play in the finale. Amendola’s status to open the season remained in question heading toward final cuts.

Jets – Brandon Marshall practiced Monday and is expected to play in the Jets’ regular-season opener on Sunday against the Bengals. Marshall sat out the final two preseason games as a precaution, but coach Todd Bowles said the veteran could have played were it the regular season.

Redskins – Josh Doctson returned to the practice field on Sunday for the first time since May 25. The Redskins still hope he will be active for next Monday’s season opener against Pittsburgh.

TE

Dolphins – Jordan Cameron has been unreliable in preseason, dropping three passes, and right guard is largely unsettled among Jermon Bushrod, Billy Turner and Dallas Thomas

Patriots – Rob Gronkowski was not on the practice field during the media portion of practice as New England began preparations for the opener Sept. 4 in Foxborough.

Gronkowski had been dealing with a lower body injury suffered in joint practices with the Saints, though he returned to practice action last week. The All-Pro did not play in the preseason for the fourth straight summer.

Redskins Young Steelers cornerbacks Ross Cockrell and Artie Burns could get picked apart by the Redskins’ deep receiving corps. Jordan Reed should have a field day against the linebackers and safeties, too.
