This morning I talked about three pitchers to watch this spring. They are Jordan Zimmermann, Lance Lynn and Aaron Nola. (Jerad Eickhoff and Vince Velazquez also come up in conversation)
Have a listen
Other player situations to watch this spring:
Many top prospects have been traded over the past year, including Yoan Moncada and
- No. 3 Dansby Swanson
- No. 5 Gleyber Torres
- No. 21 Anderson Espinoza
- No. 25 Lucas Giolito
- No. 27 Lewis Brinson
- No. 29 Jose De Leon.
Sean Rodriguez is expected to miss between three and five months due to a scheduled shoulder surgery after a guy driving a stolen police car T-boned him and his family in late January. The driver of the stolen car died, while Sean and his family should make full recoveries.
The Reds will eat most of his salary to trade Brandon Phillips to the Braves
Source adds: #Reds’ return will be minimal. Motivation for CIN is to clear infield logjam.

Phillips previously blocked the Braves’ from getting him in January, but they enticed Phillips to accept the move by allowing him to take his trade protection with him to Atlanta as well as making few minor (undisclosed) changes to his contract
Hearing the Braves enticed Phillips by making a couple changes to his deal, but “nothing much.”

Phillips will get paid $14 million in the last year of his contract, and very well could be a nice sleeper on draft day now that the Braves offense looks to be much improved in 2017
Ender Inciarte emerged as a strong leadoff hitter in 2016, and Kemp gave the Braves a needed presence in the cleanup spot behind Freeman. For 2017, Dansby Swanson is penciled in as the number two hitter.
We have already warned that Jung Ho Kang stands to lose significant time due to his ongoing legal troubles in South Korea. The latest news is that he will miss the first part of spring training, as he must appear in court on Feb. 22. Standby for more updates, but for now just don’t draft him.
152 of the Orioles league leading 253 home runs were hit while the bases were empty. They stole only 19 bases last season, the fewest of any team since 1982. The 2016 Orioles were the third team since the start of the expansion era in 1961 to steal fewer than 20 bases, joining the 1964 Red Sox (18) and 1972 Tigers (17)
There were 2,537 steals in 2,428 games last season. The averages of 1.04 steals per game last season and 1.03 in 2015 were the two lowest since 1972, when it was 0.97
Tigers Joe Jimenez Pitching at High-A Lakeland, Double-A Erie and Triple-A Toledo last season,
Tigers prospect Joe Jimenez posted 30 saves across three minor league levels last season. He allowed just nine earned runs in 53⅔ innings, striking out 78. His WHIP was 0.80.
Yankees outfield battles to watch:
Right field is Aaron Judge’s going into camp. But if Judge struggles this spring, Aaron Hicks could be the beneficiary. It also might open the door for Tyler Austin — who at this point is a long shot.
Amed Rosario is the Mets top prospect and could be in position to join the major league club at some point this season. The stud shortstop was an untouchable in trade talks this winter.
