No-Ledge is Power – David Leisure

At the time of this article, both MLB Playoff Series are led 2-0 by both the Royals and the Mets.  This got me to thinking as to how rare it would be for a team to overcome a 2-0 deficit in the playoffs, be it either a 5 game or 7 game series.  I found 13 such instances and I am not claiming that these are the only 13, but wanted to offer these examples proving it can be done:

1955: Dodgers over Yankees

1978: Yankees over. Dodgers

1981: Dodgers over Astros

1982: Brewers over Angels

1984: Padres over Cubs

1995: Mariners over Yankees

1996: Yankees over Braves

1999: Red Sox over Indians

2001: Yankees over A’s

2003; Red Sox over A’s

2004: Red Sox over Yankees

2012: Giants over Reds

2015: Blue Jays over Rangers

Don’t give up on the Cubs and Blue Jays just yet.  2-0 does not mean it is over by any means and in both cases,  team down by two returns home for 3 consecutive games.  Anything and everything can still happen.

Zach Greinke opted out of his contract leaving $71 million on the table.
Clayton Kershaw got $300M in his recent deal from Dodgers and no one expects Greinke will get the same, but most people in the know expect him to get a contract over 200 million.

I personally project the Royals being the Dodgers  main competition to sign Greinke, but not in any form of a discount. The Royals recent success has been through homegrown players with savvy signings such as Kendrys Morales.  With increased revenue drawn in from attendance, they may be able to get an offer to Greinke that he would accept just to come back to Kansas City.

Out of curiosity, does anyone remember who the Royals got in exchange for Greinke when they traded him?  It was Lorenzo Cain & Alcides Escobar.

In the NFL, Week 6 is almost complete pending Monday Night Football, but history has already been made.  Five teams will enter Week 7 with undefeated records, the most since the merger in 1970.

Eddie Lacy was not benched on Sunday, he simply got outplayed by his backup in James Starks.  Like his Alabama fellow alum Trent Richardson, Lacy is proving to be slow footed and unable to get anywhere when he runs.

I say Lacy was not benched because he did make an appearance in the 4th quarter, but it was obvious that his team had lost faith in him.

The New York Jets are 4-1 simply because they have balance in both their running and passing games.  Chris Ivory has reached the century mark in total yards in 3 of his 4 games, and the Jets lost their only game to the Eagles on the only day Ivory did noot play.

Brandon Marshall is a dynamic ball  player and has been consistent with his production throughout the season.  He has caught no less than six passes in each game so far this year, and in his last four games has reached the century mark each time.  Both Ivory and Marshall have four touchdowns apiece and the Jets are flying high.

Alshon Jeffery played like Alshon Jeffery this week.  He was a superstar, completing eight of  11 targets for 147 yards, and if you watched the game, you may still be wondering how he only had 11 targets.  It was obvious late in the game that Cutler was locked in on Jeffery.  Look for this to repeat itself.

Keenan Allen caught 14 passes in three quarters of play, and Green Bay had no answer for him.  If his health allows, look for Allen as a top ten wide receiver the rest of the way.

As always, I welcome feedback and discussion.
