Rumor has it that the Mets are interested in trading for Yan Gomes. It would bring a familiar face to Mickey Callaway since he worked with him in Cleveland and would give the Mets a credible offensive catcher for the first time since Paul Lo Duca.
My take: The Mets need to turn the page on Travis d’Arnaud he’s too injury prone and can’t be counted on. Cleveland is looking for cheap controllable outfielders so I would trade Brandon Nimmo for Gomes since he will be under team control through 2022, and Gomes would strengthen up the middle, which the Mets desperately needs!
