Hey, did you have a chance to watch any preseason games Thursday evening?
Don’t feel bad if you didn’t, or forgot. It’s still early in the preseason to focus on an entire game. Within the next couple of weeks, you will start to see the starters play more minutes.
Now for the real question…Have you had a chance to start a fantasy draft?
You haven’t had a chance?!?
Well, don’t worry there’s still plenty of time! I’d suggest a Best Ball draft as your first draft.
What’s a Best Ball draft?
Well, let me explain…
Best Ball leagues are drafted during the preseason. With no waiver or roster moves during your season. Best Ball drafts give you the opportunity to see where players are falling in drafts while looking to see how many rounds you can stretch certain positions in a draft.
There are many different options on where to draft your Best Ball team.

So you’re probably wondering what type of roster construction you need to look towards?
Let’s consider a Best Ball on MFL10. In these drafts, you need to draft 2 QB’s for your team. Two strong QB’s will allow you to stock up on RB’s and WR’s. This season you can hold off on your QB until 90 picks into the draft. Draft 6 RB’s, with at least two in the first four rounds. Be sure to draft your first RB’s backup. Draft 7-8 WR’s in the draft. This will allow you to hit the receiver numbers during the season. WR’s scores fluctuate during the season and are not as consistent as the RB’s. Draft At least 2 TE’s, with the first being a Top 5 TE. The second TE would be used to back up your primary TE during the bye weeks and injuries. The Defense position is another inconsistent position during the season. So look at drafting at least 3 Defenses. This will allow your team’s scores to be split up among the 3 defenses. Most Best Ball contests don’t have kickers. If they do have a kicker, target the kickers with the defenses towards the end of the draft. In this league, you don’t have to worry about who to start each week, because the highest scoring player for each position is used each week. So, don’t be afraid to be aggressive during the draft.

If you’re going out to the beach this weekend, I’d consider an 8hr to 4hr per pick draft. This will allow you to start up a fantasy draft, while still enjoying your time out in the sun! Just don’t forget to get started now, because we’re less than a month away till the start of the season!
Happy Friday and Happy Drafting everyone!
