Football Chatter Week Five Review

Browns wide receiver Terrelle Pryor took two snaps before veteran Charlie Whitehurst replaced him, becoming the fifth quarterback to play for Cleveland in five games. Whitehurst limped off the field with 3:57 left.

Colts – Andrew Luck threw a 35-yard TD pass to T.Y. Hilton with 3:43 left Sunday to lead the Indianapolis Colts past the Chicago Bears 29-23.

Titans – Marcus Mariota threw for three touchdowns and ran for another score Mariota bounced back with a strong game after totaling three interceptions and no TD passes in losses the past two weeks. He went 20 for 29 for 163 yards with no interceptions, and ran seven times for 60 yards

Dolphins – Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins offense turned in another woeful performance By the second quarter, the crowd was booing Tannehill. By the fourth quarter, fans were chanting for his replacement, Matt Moore, who hasn’t started a game since 2011. Tannehill completed just 12 of 18 passes for 191 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday’s loss to the Titan

Texans – Brock Osweiler was overmatched by Minnesota’s relentless rush and coverage, finishing 19 for 42 for 184 yards, one interception and a late touchdown pass while taking four sacks

Raiders – Derek Carr threw a go-ahead 21-yard touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree on a fourth-and-2 gamble and added another TD pass to Amari Cooper to lead the Oakland Raiders to a 34-31 victory over the mistake-prone San Diego Chargers. Carr completed 25 of 40 passes for 317 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in Sunday’s 34-31 win over the Chargers.

Cowboys – Dak Prescott had his first turnover in five games starting in place of injured Tony Romo, a fumble when being sacked late in the third quarter. But Prescott extended his NFL rookie record to 155 passes without an interception to start his career. He completed 18 of 24 passes for 227 yards.

Packers – Aaron Rodgers completed 23 of 45 passes for 259 yards, with two touchdowns, two interceptions and 17 rushing yards in Sunday’s 23-16 win over the Giants. He was unusually out of sync with top receiver Jordy Nelson, who caught just four passes for 38 yards and a touchdown on a team-high 13 targets.

Redskins – Kirk Cousins completed 29 of 41 pass attempts for 260 yards, a touchdown and an interception during Sunday’s 16-10 win over the Ravens. Cousins’ only touchdown pass of the day came on a 21-yard connection with Pierre Garcon as part of a 10-point third quarter that ultimately decided the game. He was unable to throw for multiple scores for the first time since Week 3,

Broncos – Paxton Lynch completed 23 of 35 passes for 223 yards, one touchdown and a pick. He rushed for 18 yards, but fumbled twice, both recovered by the offense.

Chargers – Philip Rivers completed 21 of 30 passes for 359 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday’s 34-31 loss at Oakland.

Rams – Case Keenum completed 21 of 31 passes for 271 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday’s 30-19 loss to the Bills

Bills – Tyrod Taylor had a pedestrian day during Sunday’s win in Los Angeles, passing for just 124 yards on 12-of-23 passing, though he did toss two TD passes while adding 28 yards on the ground. Somehow he’s thrown for less than 125 yards in three of the team’s five games. Even more surprisingly, the Bills have won two of those three games and are 8-1 over the last two seasons whenever Taylor throws for under 200 yards.

Falcons – Matt Ryan completed 15 of 28 for 267 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s win over Denver. The result was that 180 of Ryan’s passing yards went to backs. That kind of flexibility and depth within the offense makes Ryan a threat on a weekly basis

Bengals – Andy Dalton completed 29 of 41 passes for 269 yards with a pair of touchdowns in Sunday’s 28-14 loss at Dallas. He also had six rushes for 34 yards.

Ravens –Joe Flacco completed 30 of 46 passes for 210 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s 16-10 loss to Washington. Baltimore passing attack struggling mightily after Steve Smith (ankle) left for good in the first quarter. The Ravens didn’t have a pass play longer than 15 yards all game

Eagles – Carson Wentz completed 25 of 33 passes for 238 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Sunday’s 24-23 loss to the Lions. He added 14 yards on a pair of carries.

Steelers – Ben Roethlisberger completed 34 of 47 passes for 380 yards and four touchdowns in Sunday’s game against the Jets. He also lost a fumble in the 31-13 win.
