AFC WEST FOOTBALL CHATTER 08-13

The Denver Broncos don’t know who their starting quarterback will be for the regular-season opener, Mark Sanchez was QB in preseason opener.

Devontae Booker was listed as number two running back, along with Ronnie Hillman on the depth chart. Booker has had a solid camp so far and has improved in pass protection and as a receiver out of the backfield.

Charcandrick West continues to get the majority of snaps at running back with the Chiefs No. 1 offense, as Jamaal Charles remains unavailable on the PUP list. West’s skills are more comparable to Charles than any other backs on the roster. He’s also more comfortable in handling the offense after being able to step in last season

David Amerson has been a standout throughout camp, with a recent steal of a Matt McGloin pass intended for Clive Walford a highlight.

Melvin Gordon continues to look good in the camp and he’s even been given a look at returning punts. Coach Mike McCoy said he’s far from naming a returner as he experiments with different groups.

Tyrell Williams was the talk of camp even before wide receiver Stevie Johnson sustained a season ending injury. Williams made the team last year as an undrafted rookie and Philip Rivers has been singing his praises at camp.
