Christian Vazquez is coming off Tommy John surgery and is in the process of a full-fledged throwing program in Fort Myers, Fla. It is unclear how ready he will be for the start of Spring Training, not to mention the regular season.
Blake Swihart was playing pretty well when last season ended, so I’m guessing he will at least start the season as the primary catcher. Vazquez will definitely get a chance to play his way back into the mix, but the club wants to be careful not to rush him.
