Injury Updates

Tyson Ross is on track to make his first start next weekend. He has been recovering from Thoracic Outlet Syndrome surgery since last October.

Mitch Haniger will begin his rehab assignment tomorrow

Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen went on MLB Radio yesterday and said A.J. Pollock will return in the next couple weeks. He also said a couple other things, have a listen

Cam Bedrosian will be activated tomorrow, but it is unclear if he will get the closer job back as Bud Norris has been doing a fine job.

Carlos Rodon will make a rehab start Tuesday, but WTF when is he ever going to come back? Nobody even knows what is really going on, I don’t even think Rodon knows what is going on here.

Players

Albert Pujols has more RBI since 2015 than anyone in the American League

Andrew McCutchen is hitting .394 with three homers in the last ten games. Over 1,245 games since his debut in 2009, McCutchen ranks first among National League players in hits (1,348), extra-base hits (497) and total bases (2,254). He has 183 home runs, but has yet to hit a home run with the bases loaded after 89 opportunities

Tyler Flowers has been hit by a pitch ten times this season. Atlanta catchers have been hit 17 times. Ten teams entered yesterday with fewer than 17 batters having been hit by pitches.

Matt Adams has 10 homers and 22 RBI at Great American Ball Park.

Mookie Betts got his 500th career hit last night. He is the seventh Red Sox player in the last 100 years to reach the 500-mark before his 25th birthday.

Brandon McCarthy will make his scheduled start tomorrow against the Nationals even though he left his last start with blisters.

Eric Hosmer has reached base in 36 straight home games, the longest Royal streak since 2002.

Jose Altuve has reached base 31 games straight. Buster Posey has the longest streak in the majors, with 32

David Paulino is set to make another start Tuesday against the Royals

Luis Severino made 11 starts in 2016, and was 0-8 with an 8.50 ERA. He made his eleventh start in 2017 yesterday, and is 4-2 with a 2.90 ERA.

Corey Knebel has struck out at least one batter in each of his 29 appearances this season, and tied with Aroldis Chapman for the second-longest streak by a relief pitcher

Randall Delgado has given up three earned runs with two walks and 15 strikeouts in 15 innings

Yasmany Tomas is batting .125 with one walk and 10 strikeouts in seven games since returning from a groin injury.

Julio Teheran entered 2017 with a career ERA of 3.39. Last season it was 3.20. His ERA over the last nine starts is 7.23, as he allowed at least six runs four times. His ERA at home in Sun Trust Park, is 8.40 and qualifies as the worst in MLB. Yesterday he had a 9-2 lead in the third inning and when he left the game after the fifth, he had given up seven runs on 11 hits.

Jose Quintana is 2-7 with a 5.60 ERA and nobody can figure out what the problem is, much less fix it. Quintana and everyone around him insist that he is fine physically.

Jeff Hoffman is 3-0 with a 2.61 ERA after four starts. He will get another start on Saturday against the Cubbies at Wrigley Field, but his future as part of the rotation is up in the air after Tyler Anderson returns from the disabled list as early as June 11

Kole Calhoun is nine for his last 21, including three home runs

The A’s recalled first baseman Matt Olson and optioned Daniel Mengden on Sunday. Olson was batting .338 with seven doubles, nine home runs and 23 RBI over his last 20 games

Odubel Herrera is hitting again, right after you probably benched him or threw him away. He has four doubles, a home run, and six RBI over the last two games

Trevor Williams threw 95 pitches over seven innings in his sixth start since replacing Jameson Taillon in the rotation. He is 2-2 with 18 strikeouts, six walks, a 4.26 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP in 31 ⅔ innings. Taillon is set to make his final rehab start on Wednesday and when he returns, one of Williams, Chad Kuhl, or Tyler Glasnow will be taken out of the Pirates rotation.

Teams

The Diamondbacks are still no good on the road, but their home and road splits look eerily similar to the Dodgers

The Giants rank last with 44 home runs.

Andrew McCutchen entered yesterday batting .269 on the season, but he's hitting .385 since May 26, the second-best mark in the National League in that span. He doesn’t feel that the move to sixth in the order has been the reason for him hitting so well.

Buster Posey felt sudden pain in his surgically reconstructed ankle after hitting a home run last night but it sounds like he may only miss two games. Grab Wilson Ramos if he is still available in your league..

Matt Harvey allowed another three homers over four innings last night. He is suffering from a tired arm. Who knows what the Mets will do with him. Cargo is benched..

I wore my Mets hat out the first night I was in Philadelphia, and when I told that to GoFigure, she said, "Mets in Philly, no good. Philly is a total homer town, home teams only. If you aren't sporting home colors, there's no good interaction." Then I tried to talk to a girl at […]

Cam Bedrosian will not be activated today as expected because he is ‘not ready’ to face live batters. Is this guy soft or what is the deal? Just when you started to like Gerardo Parra, he hurts his neck and sits somewhere in between the bench and the disabled list. Expect him to hit the […]

Last week Pete Mackanin benched Maikel Franco for two games, but instead of talking to him, he waited for Franco to approach him. Last year he did the same thing to Odubel, who never showed up to talk about it because he thought he was getting rest. WTF kind of communication is this?
