Phil’s Fanduel Picks 04/12

We have ten games on the main MLB slate at FanDuel tonight. With all the value on the card there are about a million ways or so to build a lineup for tonight.

The only potential weather problem tonight is the Arizona Diamondbacks/San Francisco Giants game tonight so you might want to keep your eye on the weather if you decide to roster players from that game.

The Rockies Padres game is this afternoon so we don’t have Coors Field to deal with tonight.

Pitching Options

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Marcus Stroman ($8600) has a good opportunity tonight against a Milwaukee Brewers offense with a 32 percent strikeout rate against righties. Stroman is coming off a strong 6.1 inning 41 FanDuel point outing against the Tampa Bay Rays and should do well at home against the Brewers and their .301 wOBA and a 78 wRC+ against righties.

Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Vince Velasquez ($8200) has a good opportunity tonight at home against the New York Mets. Velasquez lasted just four innings in his last outing but he did strike out ten Washington Nationals hitters. The Mets are fresh off a 14 run seven bomb massacre but they still boast a 24.5 percent strikeout rate against righties.

Los Angeles Angels right-hander Jesse Chavez ($6000) has a nice opportunity tonight at home against the Texas Rangers. Chavez is fresh off a 5.2 inning win against the Seattle Mariners and faces a Rangers team with a .305 wOBA and wRC+ of 98 against righties this young season.

Possible Stacks for Tonight

I like Boston Red Sox bats tonight against the Orioles Ubaldo Jiminez. The Red Sox have a .314 wOBA and 103 wRC+ against righties. Pay particular attention to Mitch Moreland ($2700), Andrew Benintendi ($3100), Mookie Betts ($4800) and Hanley Ramirez ($3400) tonight.

I like the Los Angeles Angels tonight against A.J. Griffin. Lefties are slugging 1.000 with a .652 wOBA against him on this young season and right handed bats are jacking him to the tune of a .500 slugging percentage and .310 wOBA. I like Cole Calhoun ($3200), C.J. Cron ($2600), Mike Trout ($5000) and Cameron Maybin ($2700) tonight.

The Los Angeles Dodgers hit righties to the tune of a .395 wOBA and wRC+ of 146. They face a tough rightie in John Lackey tonight in Los Angeles. I like Adrian Gonzalez ($3200), Corey Seager ($3800) Yaisel Puig ($3200) and Joc Pederson ($3000). If Chase Utley ($2800) plays you could also go with him tonight.

My top three plays for tonight

Last night I went with Manny Machado, Freddie Freeman and George Springer. Springer had 21 FanDuel points and the other two didn’t get it done. It’s okay because we have another day to get it right.

I really like the Red Sox Mookie Betts tonight against Jiminez. Right handed hitters are smashing Jiminez and even though Betts is off to a relatively low start thus far this season his career .310 wOBA and 100 wRC+ gives me plenty of confidence tonight.

I’ll stay with the Red Sox and go with Benintendi tonight against Jiminez. Benintendi is off to a good start this season with a .344 wOBA and wRC+ of 125. Jiminez is allowing left handed bats to torch him for a .444 slugging percentage and .336 wOBA. This could be good tonight.

I’m going back to the Orioles Manny Machado ($3800) tonight against the Red Sox right hander Steven Wright. Machado is off to a good start against righties this season with a .373 wOBA and wRC+ of 150. Wright has an xFIP of 5.21 this season against righties and I like this opportunity for Machado tonight.

Good luck at FanDuel tonight!!

Buster Posey felt sudden pain in his surgically reconstructed ankle after hitting a home run last night but it sounds like he may only miss two games. Grab Wilson Ramos if he is still available in your league..

Matt Harvey allowed another three homers over four innings last night. He is suffering from a tired arm. Who knows what the Mets will do with him. Cargo is benched..

I wore my Mets hat out the first night I was in Philadelphia, and when I told that to GoFigure, she said, "Mets in Philly, no good. Philly is a total homer town, home teams only. If you aren't sporting home colors, there's no good interaction." Then I tried to talk to a girl at […]

Cam Bedrosian will not be activated today as expected because he is ‘not ready’ to face live batters. Is this guy soft or what is the deal? Just when you started to like Gerardo Parra, he hurts his neck and sits somewhere in between the bench and the disabled list. Expect him to hit the […]

Albert Pujols has more RBI since 2015 than anyone in the American League. Andrew McCutchen is hitting .394 with three homers in the last ten games. Over 1,245 games since his debut in 2009, McCutchen ranks first among National League players in hits (1,348), extra-base hits (497) and total bases (2,254). He has 183 home […]

Last week Pete Mackanin benched Maikel Franco for two games, but instead of talking to him, he waited for Franco to approach him. Last year he did the same thing to Odubel, who never showed up to talk about it because he thought he was getting rest. WTF kind of communication is this?

Joe Maddon isn’t ‘ready’ to give up on Ian Happ even though he is 2 for his last 21 and struck out four times last night. Is this the same as not giving up on Kyle Schwarber as the leadoff batter? That worked out well. The question is when, not if they will give up […]
